BENZOIN - (styrax benzoin)

Part of The Plant Used For Essential Oil - Resin. The resin is collected from cuts made in the bark of the Styrax tree. A milky, white liquid appears but that soon dries to a resin when exposed to sunlight.
Extraction - To liquify the resin, it's usually dissolved in ethyl alcohol.
Scent Description - Base Note.
Deliciously soft and warm vanilla scent.
Usage - Bath, diffuser, inhalation, massage, room spray. It also acts as a great preservative in any blend as its gentle scent does not overwhelm but adds a subtle depth to your fragrance.

Mind - Perfect to combat anxiety or depression as its delectably warm fragrance is exceptionally comforting and calming. As it is perfectly suited to skincare (especially very dry or sensitive skin), it is a wonderful addition to a massage blend. It does have very gentle sedative qualities so is a perfect scent to tackle insomnia, particularly if your sleeplessness is caused by stress. Try blending a drop or two of Benzoin with Sandalwood essential oil and add to an oil burner. The soothing, resiny scent will most definitely help you relax and dispel any nervous tension.
Body - Benzoin essential oil has a very powerful healing effect add to that its antiseptic properties and you have a really effective skin healer. It works wonders on cracked skin and wounds that seem to be taking forever to heal. Its very helpful in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis. Benzoin also has a history of use in soothing respiratory problems.
Blends well with - Jasmine, Lavender, Myrrh, Rose, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang.
